- Auxiliary Markings are often considered secondary in importance as compared with the postal franking, cancellation and delivery date stamps on a cover. This exhibit shows this is not the case. Auxiliary markings are cryptic instructions that determine the route, postal rate and handling of postal articles. The entire story of the handling of a cover lies therein. One can thus argue that Auxiliary Markings are the most important indicator on a cover and deserve due recognition in postal history studies.
- Five makers of Mechanical Franking Machines were used from 1922 to 1947
under the British India rule and many different Franking Machine models were
used Post Independence. This exhibit makes an attempt to showcase the Meter Franking from these
machines used both in British India and Post Independence India. This exhibit showcases the meter
franking for the Domestic Mails, Overseas Surface Mails and Overseas Air Mails. Only one typical
items from each machines is showcased in this exhibit to complete the story of the Meter Franking
machines used in India.
- This exhibit explores the historically unexplored subject of the Indian beedi trade through a specialized postal study spanning from 1919 to 1992. The primary aim is to present trade correspondence using illustrated postal covers and postcards, highlighting both the intricate railway mail routes and social philatelic elements like specific brands and manufacturers. The curated material exclusively features covers and postcards bearing screen-printed labels or pasted advertisements, as standalone beedi wrappers without postal context are intentionally excluded. Highlights of this rare material include the earliest known 1919 postcard featuring the Ramkrishna Chaap beedi trademark, along with WWII-era items demonstrating the industry's rapid expansion.

I am thrilled to let you know that the first annual Auxiliary Markings Club Virtual One-Frame
Exhibit will take place the week of October 17 to 24, with the judge's feedback session scheduled for
Saturday, October 24th.
It isn't necessary for your exhibit to be exclusively about auxiliary markings, but they should play an
important part in telling your story.
